Tupac and Nate Dogg Holograms performed at this years Coachella. How can we harness the same technology to share the GospelThis years Coachella Festival included what you might expect, big name headlining acts with several up and comers trying to work their way to the Main Stage…just like Cornerstone, Alive and (enter christian festival name here)…so you are familiar with the routine but this year, one act performed that has been dead since 1996.

Tupac Shakur you’ll remember was the rapper who along with Notorious B.I.G., also known as Biggie Smalls helped to escalate the violence of the east vs West Rap culture which eventually saw both being gunned down just as they seemed to be launching into rare air as artists go.  As a result as when any young person dies people are left with a lot of “What if’s” and wondering about how these people would have turned out had they still had life and breath in them. What sort of art would they be creating, what would their voices be saying now?  Sadly, we’ll never know, all we can do is look back to the life they completed and either be stuck there or move forward.

Fans of both Shakur and Smalls are among the most loyal and this year at Coachella, Shakur returned to the stage via Hologram to perform a couple of songs with Snoop Dogg and Dr Dre.

Back in November of 2011 the very same company teamed with TMobil to present Mariah Carey as a Hologram on five separate stages across Europe simultaneously.  It is really incredible to see and in the few short months that have elapsed since the Carey performance it appears that the technology has evolved even further.

If you want to see Tupac and Nate Dogg performing at Coachella you can do a search for it but because of its incredibly extensive use of vulgar language, I won’t link it here.

The technology is INCREDIBLE and undoubtedly is a way to tell the story of GOD in a way that will drop people directly in the middle of what is going on so they can experience situations in a powerful and unique way.

Imagine being present in the Upper Room.  What about being one of the crowd that screams “Crucify HIM!!!”  How bout making the trip to the top of a hill where Christ hung, and died?  How would you react if you were able to see the Resurrected Lord the way Thomas, Mary, Peter and Paul did?  More than a movie, this technology could actually drop you in the middle of these experiences..to me, it is mind blowing and exciting!

In 1 Cor 9:19 – 23  Paul said

19 For though I am free from all, I have made myself a servant to all, that I might win more of them.20 To the Jews I became as a Jew, in order to win Jews. To those under the law I became as one under the law (though not being myself under the law) that I might win those under the law.21 To those outside the law I became as one outside the law (not being outside the law of God but under the law of Christ) that I might win those outside the law.22 To the weak I became weak, that I might win the weak. I have become all things to all people, that by all means I might save some.23 I do it all for the sake of the gospel, that I may share with them in its blessings.

I think this is just one more platform that we can use to share JESUS with others.
